Title

IRAS Point Source Catalog joined with Hours-Confirmation and Working Survey Database

Description

The IRAS Point Source Catalog includes 245,889 well-confirmed point sources, i.e., sources with angular extents less than approximately 0.5 arcmin, 0.5 arcmin, 1.0 arcmin, and 2.0 arcmin in the in-scan direction at 12, 25, 60, and 100 micron, respectively. The most complete observational and data reduction history for point sources is contained within the Working Survey Data Base (WSDB). The WSDB is broken up into 20 files, one for each range of ecliptic longitudes called a Lune. The next level of source confirmation involved observations with time separations from 100 minutes up to 36 hours. Most objects were observed on consecutive orbits, but the upper limit was chosen to accommodate recovery scans for areas of sky not covered satisfactorily on the first attempt for a variety of reasons. Generally, hours-confirmation was run on groups of three successive Satellite Operation Programs, although this rule was violated during the minisurvey (SOPs 29-44) and in two cases of survey restarts (SOPs 57-61, 256-257, and 265).

This dataset or service is made available by the Infrared Science Archive (IRSA) at IPAC, which is operated by the California Institute of Technology under contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
