IPAC, located on the Caltech campus, is not under direct threat from local fires at this time, though it is subject to the effects of strong winds and poor air quality. Many members of the IPAC community have been impacted by these events, and IPAC will follow Caltech guidance on closures and safe operations. Brian Siana (UC Riverside) -- Using Gravitational Lensing to Study a Large Population of High Redshift Dwarf Galaxies

I will present results from Hubble and Keck surveys of lensed galaxies behind massive lensing clusters. The first data reveal a large number of dwarf galaxies at z~2 a factor of 100 fainter than previous studies, with no sign of a turnover in the luminosity function. I will show why these dwarf galaxies likely behave differently from their more massive counterparts, and will preview preliminary results on their dust extinction and escape fraction of ionizing photons.
