Venue
The conference will be held at the Pasadena Hilton, a
short walk from Old Town Pasadena, with its many shops and
restaurants, and 1.5 miles from the Caltech campus.
Should the Hilton become fully booked, we also have a number of rooms
reserved at the Pasadena Sheraton, a block away from the Hilton (see

If you need to fly into the LA area, we suggest flying into either LAX
or, if possible, Burbank. Shuttles are available at the curb of either
airport to take you to the hotel, and can be booked in advance, online.
Huntington Library and Gardens
Pasadena is best known as the host city for the Tournament of Roses Parade, but it is also home to Caltech, the Huntington Gardens, and the Norton Simon Museum of Art. For those arriving early, we are planning a bus trip to the Huntington Gardens on Sunday Oct. 26. The Huntington is home to a distinguished art museum and 120 acres of diverse flora from around the world. An additional fee of $25 will cover admission and roundtrip transportation from the conference hotels. For a preview of what can be seen at the Huntington, see the
Wikipedia and
Huntington Garden web sites.
We are arranging an organized tour in the morning. We will not be including lunch as part of the $25 fee. Options for lunch include the tea room buffet and cafe. The tea room buffet requires an advance reservation and is $32/person. The cafe features sandwiches and meals starting at ~$8-$12. After lunch, you will be free to explore the Huntington grounds.
The following exhibits will be open/closed:
- The Boone Gallery exhibition will be featuring Architecture and Art of Charles and Henry Greene.
- The Huntington Art gallery will be reopening in June after several years of renovation.
- The American gallery will be closed.
- The new Chinese garden will be open.
