The cosmic ray hit rate was found to be at the upper end of values expected before launch and the effect of primary cosmic ray hits on the detector performance is more severe than expected, Also the recovery time following a glitch is much longer than expected from ground measurements. The glitch problem has been allieviated by reducing the bias on the detectors and using shorter ramp lengths. Consequently, the LWS team has decided to use a 1/2 second length ramp length and the fast scanning mode on all observations. This operational change is transparent to the user; it is done automatically. But the changes will have an effect on the integration time T. See notes on the NEP Changes
The major impact is on measurements with a low signal levels.
