There is a limit of 
% on the quality of the aperture
photometry possible with the undersampled data expected for 2MASS. Good
telescope control, jitter 
per frame, is required to ensure
appropriate sub-pixel sampling. The effect of completely dead pixels
can be ameliorated by an algorithm such as KAMPHOT that uses the
knowledge of dead pixels available in the individual frames.
